When is Hari Raya Qurban?
Hari raya qurban – October 26th in 2012 and celebrated on October 15th in 2013
Similar in name to Hari Raya Haji or Hari Raya Puasa– Feast of the sacrifice that is called Hari Raya Qurban in Uzbekistan when all Muslim men and women are expected to adorn themselves with the finest clothing in order to perform the Eid prayer after which they will sacrifice the best of their domestic animals such as goats, camels, sheep or cows.
During the special sacrifice, Allah’s name is being recited together with the offering statement and supplication as was done by the great Prophet Muhammad. While the celebration is happening, all Muslims are required to visit their closest relatives, parents and friends.
Hari Raya Qurban is celebrated in the middle East countries and is observed as a national public holiday in the Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Turkey on the same date as the Hari Raya Haji in Asian countries.
