Most people refer to this hike as “Stairway to Heaven” but the official name is Haiku Stairs. It’s a steel staircase made up of4000 steps that ascends a ridge up from the Valley of Haiku in Hawaii. The steps were built so the military could access a radio station antennae on the mountain during WWII. It’s illegal to hike this path. It’s not treacherous, but there are issues with the surrounding neighborhoods. Most who hike this trail simply show up before the security guard (around 7am).
